How To Work around FAFSA Technical Issues

The IRS data-retrieval tool used to update a student’s FAFSA with actual 2015 tax information has been experiencing technical difficulties and is not currently available. If you are required to use the tool on your FAFSA and are unable to do so, the Financial Aid Office advises you to request a tax return transcript from the IRS instead and send the transcript directly to the Financial Aid Office in Wallis Hall. The office can use the tax-return transcript to replace the requirement for the IRS data retrieval. You shouldn’t wait to submit your FAFSA until the IRS data-retrieval tool is working again—the Department of Education doesn’t currently have an expected date of resolution to the issue and you don’t want to delay your aid application, which was due on March 15. Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions.
