Class of 2020 Degree Conferral Celebration

This Friday, May 15, the University will confer degrees on graduating students in a video message from President Sarah Mangelsdorf on the Class of 2020 degree conferral website. The video message will be available online at noon (EDT) and can be viewed with family and friends at your convenience.

The website also will include a message from Rich Handler, chair of the University’s Board of Trustees; information on this year’s honorary degrees, medals, and teaching awards recipients; and a link to a searchable list of all graduating students in Arts, Sciences & Engineering. Available tomorrow on the website will be a “Celebration Tool Kit.” You can download and print banners and signs, find themed Zoom backgrounds to use in your own virtual celebrations, and UR social media templates. Follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and use the #UR2020 hashtag to share your own moments with the University community, family, and friends.

Also beginning at noon on May 15, AS&E’s own Class of 2020 website will celebrate graduates with video messages from the deans and senior class council president Rachel Goodman, as well as a moving a cappella performance of the University’s alma mater, “The Genesee.” In addition, you will find links to department celebrations as well as to this year’s Singer Senior Family Prize recipients.

Throughout the week, the University will highlight some of our soon-to-be graduates and share ways to celebrate the Class of 2020 in @Rochester.

Diplomas will be issued through the mail within the next several weeks, as will a printed Commencement Program for 2020.
