All Residential Undergraduate Students to Have Pre-Departure COVID-19 Test

Since the pre-departure COVID testing plans were announced on Tuesday, University Health Service has been able to expand its testing capabilities by securing rapid test kits. Now, all residential undergraduate students on the River Campus and at the Eastman School of Music will be required to get tested for COVID-19 before departing from campus for the semester. This new component of UHS’s testing program is an addition to the previously announced optional testing program, which includes graduate students, off-campus undergraduates, and international students with specific testing requirements.

Students who plan to take public transportation home (plane, bus, train) should schedule a test as early as possible. That way if there is a need to isolate pending a follow-up PCR test result, the time is built in for this.

Undergraduate residential students need to schedule their testing slot through UHS’s online sign-up sheet. There is no cost for the test.

New Winter Session Term

Courses will now be offered in a new Winter Session term taking place January 11–29. Students can enroll in up to two courses, for a maximum of three credits, and can do so via UR Student during the next registration period beginning December 7. Winter Session can be an option to help you spread out your academic plans or take the three-week period to learn a new skill. Students are encouraged to work with their advisor to discuss Winter Session options. Get more information on course offerings, tuition, registration, and important policies and deadlines.

Spring Course Listings

The majority of courses for spring 2021 have been posted on UR Student. However, some additional classes will be scheduled over the next days, and students are encouraged to continue to check the spring course listings over the next week to review these additions. Your patience is appreciated as the remaining course listings are sorted out.

Spring 2021 Course Start Dates

This includes courses in the Barry Florescue Undergraduate Business Program with Simon Business School. The Eastman School of Music will also begin their classes for the spring semester on February 1. Updates on Student Employment

Undergraduate students may continue in their current hourly positions until December 31 if they are remaining on campus or if they are returning home and the work can be completed remotely. Students will have the opportunity to extend their hourly positions or to be hired into new hourly positions in spring 2021 if they are residing on-campus, generally in New York state, or within one of the following states: California, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.  Students not residing in New York state or one of these states will not be able to continue in their positions or be hired into new positions in spring 2021.
