Remote Counseling Services Available

The University Counseling Center continues to operate remotely and is available for all full-time students by calling (585) 275-3113. Whether you are in Rochester or elsewhere, all students are able to meet with a therapist for an initial assessment and obtain assistance with getting connected to services that you need. You can also stay up-to-date on drop-in group offerings; there is no appointment necessary to attend.

Reminder: Additional Layer of Security Will Be Added to Student Email

To improve University protections against phishing, all student emails to Gmail (@u.rochester.edu) will be routed through an additional layer of security (Proofpoint) starting Tuesday, December 1.

  • Emails received from a sender outside of the University’s email systems will be tagged with an EXT for External in the subject of the email.
  • Additional spam filters will remove suspected emails automatically. You will receive an “End User Digest” daily at 2 p.m. EST, listing the emails that have been quarantined and allowing you to release any valid emails.
  • All attachments will be scanned for malware, certain file types that are flagged as high-risk will automatically be removed.  The process of scanning may delay email delivery for up to seven minutes.

Learn more about these new features. Contact the University IT Help Desk at UnivITHelp@rochester.edu or (585) 275-2000 with questions.
