Online survey helps track COVID-19 spread in Rochester

An online questionnaire, called ROC Covid-19, is helping track coronavirus spread in the Greater Rochester area.

Developed with help from the University of Rochester, the survey can track potential outbreaks at the zip code level. This could allow policymakers to respond more quickly and specifically, rather than only addressing issues at a regional level.

Participants from the Finger Lakes region voluntarily take the brief daily survey. The questionnaire checks if you have any coronavirus symptoms, as well as asks some optional demographic questions. Adults living in the region can participate by going to Roccovid.org.

Adam Bello, executive of Monroe County, which includes Rochester, described the project as a “game changer”. However, organizers are hoping for more survey participants to ensure there is enough data to draw conclusions from.

Visit Roccovid.org to participate in the survey, and learn more about the ROC Covid-19 initiative.
