“Take emotion out of it.” That’s the best piece of professional advice Margaret Parisi, Senior Financial Analyst in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, has ever received. It perfectly complements her personal motto, “Be honest. Be kind.”

These guiding principles have served her well over her 18-year career with the University of Rochester.

Parisi started at Rochester as an undergraduate student, earning her bachelor’s degree in biology and working as a Laboratory Technician in the Neurosurgery Department.

Taking an accounting class changed her life forever and allowed Parisi to flex her creative problem-solving muscles in new ways. “I instantly fell in love,” she says. She transitioned roles to Bookkeeper and then Accountant in the Biomedical Genetics Department at the medical center, and then Senior Accountant in Clinical and Social Psychology on the River Campus.

During this time, Parisi also earned two graduate degrees from the Simon School of Business: an MS in Accounting in 2013 and an MBA in Accounting and Finance in 2015.

She joined the Executive Board of the Emerging Leaders in 2017, and she’s been helping us balance the books ever since!
