Daniella Sussman

Director of International Communications

Daniella Sussman serves as the Director of International Communications for Global Engagement at the University of Rochester.  Acting under the guidance of the Vice Provost for Global Engagement, she develops and implements communication strategies for all departmental reporting units and functions, in order to enhance the University of Rochester’s reputation as a top-tier research university of global consequence. Utilizing multi-channel content that supports international initiatives, research and collaborations, she liaises with faculty and senior administration on communications strategy abroad and summarizes international issues affecting the University and its constituents. As an integral part of the wider communications community, she collaborates closely with the Office of University Communications to ensure alignment with the institutional communications strategy and best practices.

Previously, Daniella worked for the United Nations, holding roles as the Communication Advisor for the Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Commission and Fund at the UN Secretariat, Chief of Communications and External Relations for UNICEF in Central and South Asia, East and West Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Recently, she served as Public Communications and Partnership Specialist for the UN World Data Forums in China, UAE and South Africa and UN High-level Dialogue on Energy in New York. Daniella also spent a year with the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University, New York, as a communication consultant and a visiting scholar at the CUC, China. With a diverse work history spanning international relations and development, marketing, and higher education, she brings a wealth of knowledge and unique perspective to the institution. Daniella holds an MBA from Copenhagen Business School, and M.A. in International Journalism from City University of London and a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
