Ravi Shankar Awarded at NAFSA: Association of International Educators

Ravi Shankar, Assistant Vice Provost for International Services and Support at the University of Rochester, has been honored with NAFSA’s Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to international education.

He has been an active member of NAFSA since 2010, serving as President and Chair of the Board of Directors from 2019 to 2020, and as Vice President for Professional Development and Engagement from 2016 to 2018. His leadership has been pivotal in expanding support services for international students and enhancing cross-cultural communication within academic settings.

Ravi Shankar expressed his appreciation for the award, stating, “Receiving the NAFSA Distinguished Service Award is not only a personal honor but also a testament to the collective effort of our team at the University of Rochester and the broader international education community. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue our work, pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve in making education accessible and inclusive for students from all corners of the globe.”

The award ceremony will take place at the NAFSA 2024 annual meeting in New Orleans later this month.
