Open Enrollment Ends Today

The Open Enrollment period ends Wednesday, November 15. Action is required for many of the University’s benefits including changing your health care plan, electing to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), electing to increase or decrease your coverage, and enrolling in Group Universal Life Insurance (GUL) or several other voluntary benefits. To assist you with enrolling in your 2024 benefits, visit the Open Enrollment website, which features 2024 benefits highlights, how to enroll, frequently asked questions, and more.

2024 Benefits Confirmation Statement

Employees will receive a 2024 benefits enrollment confirmation statement in the mail around the middle of December. If employees do not receive it by the end of December, they should contact the Office of Total Rewards. Employees will be able to review the details of their health and dental elections, including their covered dependents. If employees elected to contribute to an HSA or FSA in 2024, those specifics will also be included.

Learning and Development

DEI Content Anywhere: Emotional Intelligence

The Office of Human Resources’ Learning and Development department, in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Inclusion, introduces “DEI Content Anytime,” offering learning opportunities on diversity, equity, and inclusion via MyPath. Accessible to all faculty and staff, this educational content aligns with the University’s Meliora values. The newest learning opportunity highlights emotional intelligence; new modules on a variety of DEI topics will be released regularly. Resources include brief micro-learning modules and departmental book club options. For more information, visit the Office of Equity and Inclusion’s website.

Deadline for Harassment and Discrimination Training

The deadline to complete the University’s annual training on how to identify and react to workplace harassment and discrimination is Wednesday, November 22. This training is an important component of our efforts to address the damaging effects of harassment and discrimination, and is required by state and federal law. New York State’s Sexual Harassment Prevention training is available in MyPath and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete, and the additional required training on Title IX will take 30 minutes to complete. For more information and frequently asked questions about the training, as well as additional opportunities for online and in-person training, visit the Office of Equity and Inclusion online.

IT Security Training

University IT has bolstered security policies due to the increased risk of cyberattacks, with the primary objective of protecting institutional data while limiting risk and reducing costs. A one-time required training, “Information Security Policy Updates,” has been assigned to all faculty, staff, contractors, and student employees in MyPath. The training takes about 20 minutes to complete and is due on Friday, December 15. The training covers expectations, best practices, and responsibilities to secure personal and institutional information, prevent institutional data breaches, and ensure consistency throughout all parts of the University. To review these new policies, visit the IT website.

Total Rewards

Life insurance and retirement beneficiary information

To ensure that your life insurance benefits and retirement plan assets are distributed according to your wishes and without delay, it’s important to name specific beneficiaries and keep your designations up to date. If you do not designate a beneficiary for your life insurance policy, benefits will be paid according to a default order of priority. Similarly, your retirement plan assets will be transferred according to the terms of your plan’s beneficiary designation, not your will.

  • To view or change your retirement beneficiary information, go to TIAA to register or log in to your account. Once logged in, under the “Actions” tab, choose “Add/Edit Beneficiaries.” You can also call TIAA at 1-800-410-6497 for additional assistance.
  • To view or change your life insurance beneficiary information, log into HRMS (and click on “Securian Financial.”)

Fall Tuition Reimbursement

To ensure timely tuition reimbursement for classes at an outside college/university for the Fall 2023 semester, proof of tuition cost, payment, and successful course completion needs to be received by the Office of Total Rewards via email no later than 90 days following course completion. Also, don’t forget to submit your application for your Spring 2024 classes no later than 30 days from the start of the course(s). The application and more information about tuition reimbursement can be found on the tuition benefits website.
