What does a Human Subject Research Coordinator (HSRC) do?

A Human Subject Research Coordinator (HSRC) organizes and communicates office details needed to conduct human subject research. This research includes data from clinical and lab studies. The HSRC receives, distributes, and explains study information. They assist in subject recruitment and screening, such as conducting phone interviews. The HSRC makes sure participants follow protocol, such as taking medications, prior to the study. They also answer questions during the study. The HSRC makes sure all data is collected and that team members follow protocol. They train staff on this protocol, which includes obtaining participant consent.

Minimum education and experience

Associate degree or an equivalent combo of education and experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge of word processing and data analysis software. Moderate level of problem-solving ability. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to communicate clear direction related to research studies.

Days/hours

Monday – Friday, general business hours, with occasional weekends and evenings.

Work environment

Business offices, clinical practices, and at-home visits.

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
