The expressions portrayed by soldiers, such as that of George Morrison, have
immediately captured the sympathetic
attention of those who view them. While Morrison looks relatively uninjured,
a second photograph taken at the same time
shows the
more extensive nature of his wound -- which he suffered at the very end of
the war (CP 985-986).
