Output Management - Archival and Retention

Production reports produced on the mainframe are archived and retained online in a product called CA-View.

Authorization for viewing reports in CA-View is by your mainframe USER-ID.

Only USER-IDs assigned to a report-id can view the report.

Mainframe jobs that produce output are defined in CA-Deliver, to work in conjunction with CA-View.

Jobs with a run class of L will automatically be interrogated by DELIVER. If defined, REPORT-IDs will be populated with the report. For jobs with a run class of C or P, the SYSOUT DD will need the DEST=DELIVER parameter in order to populate the REPORT-ID.

Jobs must also have MSGCLASS=J on the //JOB card and FORMS=JCLO on the /*JOBPARM card to route run JCL to the JCL database for future reference.

DEFAULT retention period for report and JCL is 30 days. Retention periods can be extended or reduced by individual reports as needed. This would have to be entered by Production Control into a table.
