#1: One-Act Play Festival

Watch young emerging artists show off their stage talents in the 18th Annual One-Act Play Festival from Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19. The event is presented by the International Theatre Program and features plays written, acted, designed, and directed by students. Performances begin at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $3 and only available at the door, an hour before the show. Seating is limited, so get there early.

#2: The Wondertwins

The Boston-based professional dance duo, the WonderTwins, who have opened up shows for hip-hop icons such as Run DMC and LL Cool J, will bring their style of dance moves to the River Campus on Friday, March 18. Identical twins Billy and Bobby McClain,  also known for their choreography work on concert tours for the New Kids on the Block and singer Bobby Brown, perform at 7 p.m. at Spurrier Dance Studio. Tickets are $5 for University students and $10 for all others. The show is presented by the Program for Dance and Movement.

#3: Mela

Immerse yourself in South Asian culture as the Association for Development of Interest in the Indian Subcontinent presents its annual Mela event on Saturday, March 19. The students invite the community to a showcase of performances, including traditional and modern dance by members of the University’s dance groups Rochester Raas and UR Bhangra, at 4 p.m. at Strong Auditorium.  After the show, all are invited to purchase a dinner catered by Tandoor of India at 6:30 p.m. at Douglass Dining Hall. Tickets for the show and dinner are $20 for general public and $14 for the students. Tickets for the show only are $6 for students and $10 for the general public. Tickets will be available at the door.

#4: Ying Quartet

The Ying Quartet, quartet-in-residence at the Eastman School of Music, will give a performance on Sunday, March 20, as part of the Eastman Ranlet Series. The Grammy award-winning quartet, recognized around the world for its unique approach to traditional chamber music, have performed in the world’s most prestigious concerts halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. The ensemble will play at 3 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall. Tickets from $20 to $30.

#5: Open House: Creative Workshops

The whole family is invited to attend an open house at the Memorial Art Gallery and try out a selection of creative art classes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Art instructors will demonstrate a variety of art activities, including working with clay, watercolors, fibers, and jewelry-making.
