WHO: Jeanne Theoharis, professor of political science at Brooklyn College of CUNY, will give a lecture entitled “More Than Tired: Debunking the Myth of Mrs. Rosa Parks.”

TIME, DATE, PLACE: 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in the Welles-Brown Room of Rush Rees Library on the University of Rochester’s River Campus.

WHAT: Jeanne Theoharis will lead a discussion on her most recent book, The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks. Theoharis studied Afro-American Studies at Harvard University and earned a doctoral degree in American Culture from the University of Michigan. She is the author or co-author of seven books and numerous articles on the black freedom struggle and the contemporary politics of race. The event, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the Douglass Leadership House, Department of Political Science, the Harrott Constitution Project Fund, Black Students’ Union, Women of Color Circle, Women’s Caucus, Frederick Douglass Institute, and Susan B. Anthony Institute.
