Linda Broadbelt, chair of chemical and biological engineering at Northwestern University, will give the Department of Chemical Engineering’s 15th annual G.J. and S.T. Su Distinguished Lecture on Wednesday, April 26. She will present “Reaction Pathways Discovery and Analysis: Bringing Biological and Chemical Catalysis Together.”
Broadbelt is Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor in and Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern. Her research and teaching interests are in the area of multiscale modeling, complex kinetics modeling, environmental catalysis, novel biochemical pathways, and polymerization/depolymerization kinetics. She is associate editor for Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, her honors also include a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award, a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation, and appointment to the Defense Science Study Group of the Institute for Defense Analyses.
The Su Lectureship was established to honor Professor Gouq-Jen Su, who joined Rochester’s Department of Chemical Engineering faculty in 1947. Su was an expert in the thermodynamics of fluids. His papers are considered landmarks in the field.
Broadbelt’s lecture starts at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in Gavett Hall, Room 202. A reception will precede the lecture at 2:30 p.m. in Room 208A.
