“The Whole World is Gone” by associate professor of English Jennifer Grotz was selected as the “Poem-a-Day” poem for February 4, 2014, by the Academy of American Poets.

Her most recent work, 2013’s The Psalms of All My Days, is a book of translations from the French of the poet Patrice de La Tour du Pin. Her 2011 book The Needle was named one of the five best books of poetry published in that year by NPR.

She was the 2012 recipient of the University’s Lillian Fairchild Award, an award given by the English department each year to the Rochester-area resident who has “created extraordinary artistic work in any medium in the past year.” Grotz joined the English department at the University in 2009 and teaches courses in translation, poetry writing, and modern and contemporary American and European poetry.
