Questions about the University of Rochester’s Restart plan were asked and answered Wednesday evening at an online town hall for parents and students. Jane Gatewood, vice provost for global engagement and cochair of the Coronavirus University Restart Team, moderated the Zoom event.
The panelists were John Hain, associate dean, academic and international affairs, Eastman School of Music; Ralph Manchester, vice provost and director of University Health Service; Adrienne Morgan, associate vice president for equity and inclusion; Jeff Runner, dean of the College; and Samantha Veeder, associate dean of College enrollment and director of financial aid.
The 90-minute town hall addressed questions about how the University is abiding by New York state’s quarantine restrictions, the University’s strategy to identify students who may have COVID-19 or be infected with the coronavirus, financial aid concerns, online learning, and a look at what campus life on the River Campus and the Eastman School of Music campus might look like this fall.
“It’s all going to be OK. I encourage parents to support their students, their children,” Morgan said. “Everyone here at the University is committed to the safety and welfare of [our students]. We’re very excited to have them back and look forward to working with them again on campus.”
