Cora Marrett, deputy director of the National Science Foundation, will give a talk on “Research and Education in a Data Intensive Era” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library.

A data deluge increasingly marks science and engineering. The proliferation of often complex data provides challenges to the worlds of discovery and of education. The challenges are garnering ever greater attention from NSF (and other parts of the federal government) in the context of “Big Data.”

The event is sponsored by the Office of Research Alliances. Contact Megan Mack at 275-1171 or megan_mack@urmc.rochester.edu for more information.
