University of Rochester sets tuition rates for 2015-16

Tuition for University of Rochester undergraduates in The College will rise 2.8 percent to $47,450 in the 2015-16 academic year. Room and board will be $14,294, a 4.8 percent increase. The total cost of attendance increase is 3.3 percent.

Tuition for the Eastman School of Music will be $47,770, a 3.5 percent increase.

“We are exercising considerable discipline in our budget and tuition setting processes, sensitive to how any increase in cost of attendance can affect students and families,” said University President Joel Seligman. “This year’s percent increases in tuition and total cost are the lowest in at least 40 years and among the lowest of our peer research institutions that have announced. With the financial assistance we make available to current and future students, we are reaffirming our commitment to keep the rigorous and highly valued Rochester education accessible and affordable.”

For the 2015-16 academic year, the College has increased its commitment to student financial aid by 5.9 percent.

At the University’s professional schools, the tuition rates for 2015-16 will be: $50,300 for the School of Medicine and Dentistry, a 3.9 percent increase; $61,444 for the School of Nursing’s three semester accelerated program, a 3 percent increase; $52,350 for the Simon School of Business, a 3 percent increase; and $42,880 for the Warner Graduate School of Education, a 3.4 percent increase.

The University Board of Trustees approved these rates for all schools at a March meeting.
