PHOTO GALLERY: Move-In Day 2015

Nearly 1,300 freshmen forming the Class of 2019 moved in to their new homes on the University’s River Campus and Eastman School of Music this week. The incoming class comes from 47 states and 83 countries. At both Eastman and River Campus, current students were on hand to welcome and assist their new classmates as they got their first taste of their new home. Welcome to Rochester, Class of 2019!

19 African students learn college ropes this summer

Nineteen high school students from Africa are staying on the River Campus through Aug. 7 as part of a pre-orientation program designed to prepare them for college this fall. Three will continue their education at the University of Rochester this fall.

Singer Awards recognize those who changed lives of four UR graduates

Each year, seniors in the College are invited to nominate a high school teacher for consideration for the Singer Family Prize. The four award winners receive a plaque and $3,000, as well as $2,500 for their school.

Annual Gollin Film Festival showcases student films

Aches, a stop-motion animation film by film and media studies major Brynn Wilkins, ’15 took the top prize in the 10th annual Gollin Film Festival, sponsored by the Film and Media Studies Program.

Spread the Word to End the Word at UR

Spread the Word to End the Word is a national movement to end the demeaning use of the words “retard” and “retarded.” On March 4, the movement’s national day of awareness, several events will occur around campus and throughout the Medical Center to support the campaign.
