The University’s anti-racism committee will host a series of discussions to coincide with the United Nations’ annual International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Members of the University community are encouraged to wear gray “We’re Better Than That” T-shirts on March 21.
University announces tuition, financial aid increases for 2017-18
Tuition for undergraduates in the College will increase 3.7 percent to $51,090 for the 2017-18 academic year. Room and board will increase 3.4 percent to $15,324. Tuition for the Eastman School of Music will also increase 3.7 percent to $51,440. Undergraduate financial aid will increase 4.3 % over the current year forecast to $138.1 million.
New undergraduate residence to be Genesee Hall
River Campus’ newest residence hall, which will overlook the Genesee River from its east side, will also bear its name. Scheduled to open this fall, Genesee Hall will feature housing for approximately 150 freshmen, as well as meeting rooms, a new locker room facility, and training rooms for athletic programs.
Nursing professor appointed to national alliance to improve HIV care in Africa
LaRon Nelson has been selected to serve as a member of the Adolescent HIV Prevention and Treatment Implementation Science Alliance, an initiative of the Center for Global Health Studies at the National Institutes of Health to overcome implementation challenges related to prevention, screening, and treatment.

Mavrinac reappointed to five-year deanship
Mavrinac is a recognized leader in the creation of inspiring learning spaces and the development of digital services. In her first five years here, she has led two major space renovations in Rush Rhees Library—the creation of Evans Lam Square, and the forthcoming iZone.
