The Board of Trustees has appointed a Special Committee to oversee an independent, comprehensive investigation into all matters involving the EEOC Complaint. 

In recognition of a gift from University trustee Stephen Biggar ’92 and his wife, Elisabeth Asaro-Biggar ’92—both former varsity soccer players— the entryway to Genesee Hall and the Boehning Varsity House will be named the Big “R” Atrium.

President and CEO Joel Seligman has outlined several steps the University will take to review the institution’s policies on sexual harassment and misconduct and to address claims of retaliation when complaints are made against the University. Seligman made the announcement on Tuesday, September 12, as part of a public Town Hall meeting attended by more than 500 students, faculty, and other members of the University community.

Among the nearly 3,000 people who died during the attacks on 9/11 were six Rochester alumni—three who had just settled in to their offices in the World Trade Center; two who were flying aboard United Flight 93 when it crashed in rural Pennsylvania; and one who rushed to help survivors escaping the crumbling towers.

Four faculty members have been chosen as this year's Wilmot Assistant Professors. The two-year awards recognize "some of the most promising young men and women in the early stages of their academic careers."

Upper-class students can now choose to live in a double room with someone of a different gender or gender expression. The new policy is aimed at fostering a residential experience that is welcoming and supportive of all gender identities.

Sefkow, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and senior scientist at the University’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics, has received a prestigious Early Career Research Program award from the US Department of Energy and the Fusion Power Associates 2017 Excellence in Fusion Engineering Award.

A professor of psychology in the Department of Clinical and Social Sciences in Psychology, Klorman also served as the director of clinical training for the doctoral program in clinical psychology, fostering the development and careers of countless students.

More than 200 high school students from around the globe visited campus for the sixth annual conference, which this year focused on the theme “Defining and Defying Boundaries.”
