“This is a historic moment for everyone who cares so deeply about this University and our future,” said President and CEO Joel Seligman as the Meliora Challenge comes to a close exceeding its initial $1.2 billion goal by more than $168 million.

Based on a two-year review and student input, these changes and enhancements will help ensure that University students needing clinical support can get it easily, effectively and promptly.

University Trustee Robert J. Keegan has committed $1.5 million to create the Robert J. Keegan Endowed Professorship in Pricing, the 100th professorship to be established during The Meliora Challenge.

Karen Sodoma ’02S (MBA), will assist with the transition of leadership in Central Finance with the retirement of Douglas Wylie, associate vice president for financial operations and University controller.

Joining the University from Xerox, Andrews will be responsible for stewardship and management of the University’s multibillion dollar operating budget.

The University, which is the region’s largest employer, is the 6th largest private sector employer in the state and the largest private employer in upstate New York.

The summer of 2016 is one of the most active construction periods of all time on River Campus. Multiple new facilities and improvement projects are currently underway, with many scheduled to be completed by the fall.

Construction will begin this summer on a new 72,000 square- foot residence hall on River Campus that will house 151 first-year students and is scheduled to open in fall 2017.

The words penned by a member of Rochester’s class of 1876 are still recited daily by schoolchildren all around the country. On Flag Day, we remember Francis Julius Bellamy (1855–1931), who has been described as the University’s “most quoted alumnus" for composing “The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag” in 1892.

Four Rochester researchers are among the latest recipients of the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious award for junior faculty members.

Sean Kunow, a staff member in the University’s Registrar’s Office, focused on managing classroom space for academic courses in Arts, Sciences & Engineering, and was recognized as being a major asset to the University’s enrollment management efforts.

This spring, the University of the Pacific in Lima, Peru, conferred an honorary professorship on Donatella Stocchi-Perucchio, associate professor of Italian in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, in recognition of her scholarly contributions to the field of Dante studies.
