Eastman Harmonie takes its show on the road—literally

Eastman Harmonie’s European tour added an unexpected stop: the German Autobahn.

On their way to a scheduled performance in Salzburg, Austria, the wind octet’s tour bus overheated. To pass the time as they waited to get back on the road, they pulled out their instruments and treated drivers on the highway to an impromptu concert. Their Facebook video of the performance has been viewed more than 50,000 times.

Eastman Harmonie—a subset of the Eastman Wind Ensemble—continues its tour of Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic through June 5. Performances were scheduled in Salzburg, Bratislava, Štenovice, Prague, Plzen, Bayreuth, and Rochester’s sister city Würzburg, where they’re performing at the Mozart Festival.
