Baja Strong
The UR Baja SAE team unveiled their Model ’18 baja vehicle on Friday in Rettner Hall. The team have christened the car “BONKO STRONG” for former Baja team member Kevin Bonko ’17, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The student-run organization works throughout the school year to design, build, and test their car, and includes student majoring in biomedical engineering to business, optics to biology. Baja team eyes competitions in California, Kansas
Team members unveiled the vehicle in March in the atrium at Goergen Hall, along with posters illustrating the latest changes in drivetrain, electronics, frame, exterior design, suspension, and usability.

Rochester’s Baja team is serving as host ambassadors to Team Helios Racing. The students flew 19 hours, stopping at JFK International Airport in New York City, and arrived Monday.

They’ve competed all across the country, but this month University Baja SAE team members will bring their design and racing skills to their own back yard when Rochester Institute of Technology hosts more than 100 teams from 28 countries.
