The photographs, texts, recordings, and additional items that fill the University Archives paint a full picture of the University of Rochester’s 165-year history. Few know this history better—or are more familiar with these materials—than Melissa Mead.

University of Rochester Trustee Ani Gabrellian '84 and her husband, Mark Gabrellian '79, have committed $2 million to establish a directorship for the University’s newly created Humanities Center.

Marie L. Turner has been appointed director of the Rossell Hope Robbins Library and the Koller-Collins Center for English Studies at the River Campus Libraries. The Rossell Hope Robbins Library houses one of the most comprehensive medieval studies collections in North America.

Evans and Susanna Lam have committed $1 million to the River Campus Libraries to establish the Evans and Susanna Lam Library Revitalization Fund. The fund will support the modernization of the patron services area in Rush Rhees Library, which will be named Evans Lam Square.

This journal was kept by William Carey Morey, a University of Rochester graduate who would later become a beloved professor and namesake of Morey Hall and who fought in the Battle of the Wilderness. River Campus Libraries is marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with a series of events commemorating the experiences of Rochester’s soldiers and citizens.

A new exhibit commemorates the experiences of Rochester’s soldiers and citizens, from national heroes to unsung drummer boys, prisoners of war, and local activists.

River Campus Libraries has been awarded a $100,672 grant from the Andrew W. As head of patron services in Rush Rhees Library, Kathy Metz has helped redefine how students and faculty access library services and resources. Her ingenuity and leadership have earned her the 2014 Messinger Libraries Recognition Award.
