The video recording (available with captioning) and slides from the February 8 UR-HRPP Educational Forum have been posted to Blackboard.
During the session, Jonathan Herrington, PhD, Assistant Professor of Health Humanities & Bioethics, presented ‘The Ethical Risks of Machine Learning Research’. The presentation explored the ethical risks that arise in the context of research with large secondary data sets and examined the treatment of such risks under the Common Rule. The session also explored a possible alternative framework for thinking about the control of such risks, that emphasize the principle of justice.
