In accordance with New York State law, eligible employees are entitled to take up to four hours of protected time off from work, with pay, to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
The purpose of this policy is to comply with the New York State Public Health Law Article 13-E, and to assist in the creation of a healthful and comfortable environment for all students, faculty, administrators, staff visitors and any other members of the University of Rochester community.
This policy establishes guidelines for the voluntary and involuntary termination of university staff.
Faculty and staff may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance compensation when their employment at the University is terminated under circumstances that meet the eligibility criteria established by the law and the applicable regulations of the New York State Department of Labor.
A pre-placement health assessment is required of new University faculty and staff members who will have patient contact or will work in departments or positions where health assessments are mandated by law.
This policy establishes procedures and guidelines for attendance affected by severe weather conditions and other emergencies.
Faculty and staff members who leave the University in a benefit eligible (full-time or part-time) status, and are subsequently rehired to a benefit eligible (full or part-time) status at the University within five years of their termination date, will have previous benefit eligible University service reinstated at time of rehire and their service date adjusted accordingly.
Some work locations at the University may, because of the nature of the work, pose potential risks to the reproductive health of employees. This policy states the University's commitment to minimizing risks and providing education and information to help employees make informed decisions about exposure to potential health risks.
Each faculty and staff member is expected to promptly notify his or her department head and the Office of Human Resources of changes to name, home address and telephone number. The Office of Human Resources, Administrative Services should be notified of changes in marital status, spouse’s name, number of dependents and beneficiaries in order to assure proper benefits administration.
