Each faculty and staff member is expected to promptly notify his or her department head and the Office of Human Resources of changes to name, home address and telephone number. The Office of Human Resources, Administrative Services should be notified of changes in marital status, spouse’s name, number of dependents and beneficiaries in order to assure proper benefits administration.
Situations requiring overtime pay should be avoided whenever possible. When work demands require a staff member to work in excess of 40 hours in a work week the staff member is eligible for and must be paid overtime pay at a rate of one and one-half times the employee's regular hourly rate of pay for the work week.
Workers' Compensation is insurance that provides employees injured on the job with wage reimbursement and payment for medical care related to the illness or injury. If death results, benefits are payable to the surviving spouse and dependents as defined by law.
Effective management of vacation time, by both the department and by the staff member, should increase efficiency on the job, encourage continued employment, and reward University service.
All hourly paid staff are guaranteed at least four hours of straight-time pay as compensation for the inconvenience of being called to work other than their regularly scheduled shift.
Hourly paid staff required to be on call will be compensated for the inconvenience.
All faculty and staff are encouraged to have the University deposit their pay into a checking and/or savings account with a bank(s), financial institution and/or a credit union of their choice.
As an expression of appreciation and to recognize long service, the University honors eligible staff members. Awards, in the form of gifts from the University, may be selected by the honorees from the Service Awards brochure.
The University is required by law, when served with an income execution, wage assignment, family court support order, or federal tax levy against a faculty or staff member, to make deductions from the individual's wages until the debt has been satisfied, or as otherwise required by the order.
