Shelley Amiruddin Edelmann and Gregg Edelmann ’89S (MBA), send a note to announce the birth of their daughter, Laila Ann, born on August 22, 2007. She joins big sister Sophia, 4, “and her two canine and three feline siblings.” After living in Dallas, Miami, Brussels, Belgium, and Baton Rouge, La., the family is now “happily settled and stationary” in Kingwood, a suburb of Houston. Gregg is with ExxonMobil and Shelley is “keeping busy with the zoo at home.”. . . Stefanie Baker Mittman and Brian Mittman send an update: They live in Purchase, N.Y., with their four children, ages 6 to 11. Stefanie is president of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit charity that raises money to find a cure for childhood cancer. Brian is an attorney in New York City. Heather Reinertsen Somers sends a picture of “happy and healthy twin daughters” Kerry and Clare whom she and her husband, Alan, welcomed on December 9, 2006. The family lives just outside Minneapolis in Maple Grove, Minn., where Heather is employed by Ameriprise Financial as vice president and group counsel for insurance and annuity operations. Heather writes, “We had occasion to introduce Kerry and Clare to Mary Tweedie on a recent visit to Chicago, where Alan works as a financial systems consultant. Jonathan Epstein writes that with a fellow reporter at The Buffalo News, he has won the 2007 Excellence in Urban Journalism Award from Enterprise Community Partners and the Freedom Forum for their June 2006 series, “The High Cost of Being Poor.” The four-day series examined the financial abuses and excessive costs that low-income consumers, particularly in the inner city, regularly pay to cash checks, buy groceries, buy appliances or electronics, or purchase a car or house. Jonathan and the series previously won awards from the New York Newspaper Publishers Association, the National Association of Consumer Advocates, and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. . . . Heather Symecko and Paul Kasper send a photo to announce the birth of their daughter, Ava, who was born in October 2006 and joins big brothers Jack, 6, and Justin, 4. In 2005, the family relocated to New Jersey, where Paul works as an outpatient physical therapist. Most of Heather’s time is with the three kids, but she continues to telecommute to her job in Boston at Mass General. Celina Cunanan-Kelly and her husband, Matthew, send a photo announcing the birth of their first child, Maxwell James, on April 27, 2007, at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where Celina has worked as a certified nurse-midwife for the last six years after completing a master’s degree at Case Western Reserve University. She also has been named director of nurse-midwifery services at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. Though she met Matthew in Cleveland, he is a Rochester native and owns a financial advising company with AIG. The family lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio. . . . John Kwak ’96 (MS) sends a photo to announce his 2007 marriage to his wife, Eunjun, in Seoul, South Korea.

Stephanie Heller Ostrow reports that she and her husband, Adam, have moved to Littleton, Colo. Stephanie is the sales and marketing manager for an import and export jewelry company in Denver.

1996

Chris Chamberlain and his wife, Emily, welcomed their third child, Luke Mitchell, on October 17, 2007. Luke joins big brother Jackson, 6, and big sister Molly, 4. Chris and his family live in Swedesboro, N.J. . . . Jason Green (see ’96 Nursing). . . . Dana Weinstein Remley sends a photo to announce her “biggest news and proudest accomplishment”—the birth of her twins, Amelia Rose and Bryce Abraham, on April 23, 2007. Dana works as a school psychologist for the Whitefish, Mont., school district. In August 2005, she married Allen Remley at the top of Big Mountain Ski Resort. She writes, “My husband and I share a love of the mountains. I prefer to ski down them, while he enjoys hunting for elk. In the summertime, we often go hiking together in nearby Glacier National Park. Eileen McKay ’00M (MD) came out for the wedding festivities and got engaged to her now-husband Shawn Jordan on their trip to Montana. I love being a mom, and these two make every day fun, meaningful, and full of wonder. Now that we’re all sleeping more, I’m finally sharing our happy news and a picture of these little miracles. Best wishes to former classmates.”

Caurie Miner Putnam ’98W (MS) and her husband, Art, send a photo announcing the arrival of their second son, Brady Patrick, on January 12, 2007. Brady joins 4-year-old brother Brice at their home in Brockport, N.Y. Caurie writes, “They are both bundles of energy and provide lots of fodder for my writing!” Her latest short story, “Speaking of the Milky Way,” can be found in the new book, The Breastfeeding Diaries (Meadowbrook Press). Kimberly Ramirez and Jonathan Levine ’95 were married on May 6, 2007, in New York City. Not pictured is bridesmaid Diana Carroll ’97. Their wedding appeared in the fall/winter 2007 edition of Manhattan Bride magazine. The couple lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Jonathan is a lawyer in Boca Raton, and Kimberly is a pharmaceutical sales representative for Pfizer.

Alumni in attendance included Amber Meyers, Courtney Tifft, John Kingston ’99, Kwadwo Adae, and Summer Avery ’99. Jen is the associate medical director at Peer Direct in New York City. The couple lives in Sunnyside, Queens. . . . Jon Scahill ’04S (MBA) was named president and COO of Quest Patent Research Corporation, a New York City-based intellectual property asset management firm. . . . Matthew Stanley is the author of Practical Mystic (University of Chicago Press, which explores the life and work of A. S. Eddington, a pioneer in astrophysics as well as a devout Quaker. Matthew is an assistant professor in the history department at Iowa State University.

An Van Au sends a photo of her wedding to Jason London on October 7, 2007, in Scottsdale, Ariz. . . . Kimberley Leonard Chiappone sends an update: Her daughter, Katherine Rose, is now 19 months old. “What a character!” Kimberley completed her psychiatric residency at Brown University in June 2007 and returned to Western New York, where she joined SUNY Buffalo’s psychiatry department. She is spending most of her time seeing outpatients, and the rest of it supervising and teaching psychiatric residents. . . . Jason Duga (see ’00). . . . Melissa Gong Monaghan and her husband, Keith, send a photo announcing the birth of their son, Evan Ji-Sing, who was born on August 6, 2007. . . . Jen Whitney Peirick writes to share news of her first baby. Acadia Claire was born on September 6, 2007, in Buffalo. Jen and her husband, Jeremy, were married on August 6, 2005. Jeremy is a plastics engineer and Jen is a large animal veterinarian. The family lives in Holland, N.Y., “with our daughter, horses, sheep, and cat!” . . .
