1979 Mark Levine (MD), the commissioner of health for the Vermont Department of Health, spoke about gun violence with Lloyd Novick on an episode of The Editor’s Podcast. In the November 2019 episode, “Dr. Mark Levine on a Near Miss Mass Shooting in Vermont,” Mark and Novick discuss a case study published in the January 2020 issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice that chronicles the events of a thwarted school shooting in Vermont in 2018.

1995 Joseph Best (PhD), ’97D (MS) received a 2019 Award of Honor from the Wisconsin Dental Association at the organization’s annual Pyramid of Pride Awards. Joseph is an adjunct associate professor at the Marquette University School of Dentistry.

2016 Madeline Sofia (PhD) is the host of Short Wave, a new science podcast from NPR that airs every Monday through Friday. As host of the 10-minute podcast, she explores discoveries and everyday mysteries and the science behind the headlines. Madeline started at NPR as an intern while she was working on her PhD in microbiology and immunology.
