Hurricane Katrina

The almost unimaginable impact of Hurricane Katrina directly affects our academic community. The victims include the general Gulf Coast population, with severe damage to an extraordinary number of area colleges and universities. Members of our own University community, including some of the hundreds of Rochester alumni living in that region, have been directly affected.

Our hearts reach out to the victims. I know that many of you will want to help, and posted below are some of the many agencies involved in relief efforts that you may wish to consider. In the following days, as the extent of this tragedy becomes clearer, there will be other opportunities to help. For now, let me salute the many academic leaders and students around campus who have already begun to respond.
