Message on Las Vegas Tragedy

As with so many in the University community, I was deeply saddened by the senseless deaths and injuries in Las Vegas on Sunday. We grieve for the victims and sympathize with their surviving loved ones who are undoubtedly struggling to understand why a family member or friend would be subjected to this devastating and heartless crime. This tragedy impels us to contemplate once more unthinkable acts of violence in our country and in our world.

I urge all members of the University community to support each other during this time, and ask that you continue to keep the victims in your thoughts as we continue to remember the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Let me also encourage anyone particularly affected by this event to avail themselves of our counseling services. Members of the University community may obtain support from the following:

University Counseling Center, 275-3113
Employee Assistance Program, 475-0432
Interfaith Chapel, 275-4321
