Death of Student Juliette Richard

I am deeply saddened to report that on Saturday morning we learned of the death of Juliette Richard, an undergraduate in the College who resided in Hoeing Hall. Her death occurred overnight and does not appear to involve foul play.

Our hearts go out to Juliette’s family, her friends, and classmates. May they find comfort and strength in their memories of her during this time of extreme sorrow.

Juliette was a freshman from Bolton, Mass. She was a bright and promising student intending to major in microbiology. She was 19 years old.

The University flag will fly at half-staff Monday in her memory. Memorial arrangements are pending.

Let me urge those particularly touched by this tragedy to avail themselves of counseling services, and I urge all members of the University community to support each other during this time.

Members of the University community may obtain support services from the following: University Counseling Center, 275-3113; Employee Assistance Program, 475-0432; Interfaith Chapel, 275-4321.
