In response to a News 10 NBC story that aired yesterday evening showing a Marketplace Taxi dispatcher using offensive language about University students, President Joel Seligman issued the following statement:
“Marketplace Taxi offers discounted flat fares to students, faculty, and staff. We promote it as a service to our community, especially students.
“We saw the video for the first time this afternoon. We are appalled by what we saw on the video. The language was vulgar, abusive, and racist—utterly incompatible with our core values.
“While we investigate further, we are removing references to the service from our website.”
