International Student Well-being

International Student Well-being Workgroup

We have developed a workgroup comprised of various offices and departments across the University, with the following goal: Gain a better understanding of how various contexts shape the way international undergraduate and graduate students understand and pursue health and well-being. Contexts include cultural filters, life experience, national disasters / trauma, and newness of study in the United States.

Objectives

  1. Conducting a literature search on the topic of well-being in international students.
  2. Disaggregating data from 2023-2024 surveys to look specifically at international student responses.
  3. Conduct focus groups with international students.
  4. Survey parents and families of international students to gather their feedback on their student’s well-being and their perceptions of University Health Service.
  5. Analyze data from the above and determine next steps, as well as share these recommendations with University Leadership.
  6. Develop a series of educational videos about navigating the US healthcare system to increase knowledge on this topic, for both students and families.
