International Student Well-being
International Student Well-being Workgroup
We have developed a workgroup comprised of various offices and departments across the University, with the following goal: Gain a better understanding of how various contexts shape the way international undergraduate and graduate students understand and pursue health and well-being. Contexts include cultural filters, life experience, national disasters / trauma, and newness of study in the United States.
Objectives
- Conducting a literature search on the topic of well-being in international students.
- Disaggregating data from 2023-2024 surveys to look specifically at international student responses.
- Conduct focus groups with international students.
- Survey parents and families of international students to gather their feedback on their student’s well-being and their perceptions of University Health Service.
- Analyze data from the above and determine next steps, as well as share these recommendations with University Leadership.
- Develop a series of educational videos about navigating the US healthcare system to increase knowledge on this topic, for both students and families.
