Bella Beagle, ThD

Picture of Bella the therapy dogBella was born in early 2018, was rescued as a pup from a neglectful home, and met her family of choice while watching July 4th fireworks at the top of Cobbs Hill in Rochester, NY.  She is a proud mutt – about half Beagle and a quarter Eskie (American Eskimo Dog).  Bella and her humans discovered that obedience classes made for a much more pleasant partnership in and outside the house and Bella, smart and properly motivated by treats and praise (but, really, treats), learned quickly to negotiate many different skills and environments.  She earned her Canine Good Citizen award from the American Kennel Club and eventually her Therapy Dog certification from Therapy Dogs International.  Dogtor Bella likes coming to work at UCC with her partner and co-therapist Dagmar and interacting with her human colleagues and student clients.  Her specialty areas include being grounded in the present moment, providing comfort and joy, teaching the importance of play and rest, as well as “vacuuming” up crumbs from office floors.  In her free time, Bella enjoys taking walks, dissembling squeaky toys, chasing her tail, and taking naps in the sunshine.
