Research Security
Guidelines for safely fostering international collaboration
The University of Rochester is committed to fostering open global exchange of ideas and to upholding safety and security in our research endeavors.
The goal of these pages is to provide guidance and resources to support global collaborations, research security, and academic freedom, while keeping researchers and our institution safe. These resources and guidance will continue to be updated as federal policies evolve.
If a Principal Investigator (PI) is involved in research bearing on national security, and through that research could be seen as a representative of the University, the PI must inform University administration (e.g. their Department Chair, Dean, Government & Community Relations, the Vice President for Research, etc.) prior to engagement with government officials, and should continue to communicate with University administration throughout any subsequent deliberations.
