University of Rochester Among Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents in 2019

Once again, the University of Rochester ranked among the top 100 worldwide universities granted U.S. utility patents in 2019, according to a report by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO).

Published annually since 2013, the report ranks the top 100 universities named as the first assignee on utility patents granted by the USPTO in the 2019 calendar year and highlights the vital role patents play in university research and innovation.

With 36 U.S. utility patents issued in 2019, the University of Rochester ranked 79 out of 100, tied with the National Taiwan University and the University of British Columbia. The University of Rochester has placed among the the top 100 worldwide universities granted US utility patents every year that the report has been published.
