Biography

Jennifer Kruger is deeply committed to transforming mathematics education to empower and instill mathematical agency in all students. As the Director of Mathematics Education Outreach at the Center, she has been an integral part of the team since 2016, after several years serving as a consultant with the Center. She first came to Rochester to pursue her BA in Mathematics with certifications in elementary education, special education, and secondary mathematics education at Nazareth College. After completing her undergraduate studies, Kruger attended the Warner Graduate School of Education at the University of Rochester, where she earned her MS in Teaching and Curriculum of Secondary Mathematics. After a twenty-year break from her role as a student, she returned to the academic learning environment where she is currently pursuing a PhD in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Idaho.

 

Before joining the Center team, Kruger spent 15 years as a middle school mathematics teacher and two and a half years as a middle school mathematics coach in the Rochester area. In her time as a classroom teacher and coach, she implemented and supported the implementation of the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP), an NSF-funded middle school mathematics curriculum. In her role at the Center, she collaborates directly with K-12 teachers, coaches, and school leaders, serving as a professional learning facilitator, mentor, and content-focused coach. She is presently part of the senior project leadership teams for multiple NSF-funded grants. Through these initiatives, Kruger plans, coordinates, implements, and conducts research on professional learning programs that deepen content and pedagogical knowledge aligned with research-based mathematics education. She is passionate about supporting educators as they explore and implement equitable and ambitious mathematics teaching and coaching practices.
