Needs Assessment

Taylor, J., & Kawakyu O’Connor, N. (2018). East EPO Community School Needs Assessment Report. National Center for Community Schools.

When the partnership between East and the University of Rochester started, a comprehensive needs assessment was conducted. The needs assessment process is conducted every three years, thus the second needs assessment was completed in the Fall of 2018.

The needs assessment is the process which guides the community school strategy. The needs assessment identifies what needs and assets exist and which programs, services, or policies can be pursued in order to address needs and leverage assets for scholar learning and development.

Evaluation

During the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 years, the UR-East EPO engaged with an external evaluator, West Ed, to conduct an external evaluation focused on major initiatives implemented at East.  West Ed was selected through an RFP process by EPO Oversight Committee members as well as program evaluation professionals.

The purpose of the West Ed evaluation is to document and systematically review the progress made since the partnership between East and the University of Rochester was established.  The draft of the evaluation findings have been shared with the EPO Oversight Committee, the East Administrative Leadership Team, and are available here for public review.  The finalized evaluation report is scheduled to be released November 15, 2017.
