Horizons at Warner is on pause and not being offered at this time
History
We are an affiliate of Horizons National, a national network formed in 1995 to bring Horizons nationwide for its proven effectiveness in combating summer slide. By 2017, Horizons served over 5,000 students in 52 programs in 17 states. Horizons National seeks to double the number of students Horizons can serve over the next few years by consistently adding new locations each year.
Horizons at Warner was founded by former dean of the Warner School of Education, Raffaella Borasi, and Dr. Lynn Gatto in 2010 at the University of Rochester as the first affiliate nationwide to be housed on a university campus and the second to open in Rochester, NY.
Currently, we serve over 150 Rochester City School District students in grades K-8th from families of low socioeconomic status. In 2017, Horizons at Warner began to support 9th-grade students through our workforce preparation course known as the Teacher Assistants in Training (TAIT) program, and in 2018, the Critical Friends mentoring program to help our graduates succeed in high school, graduate high school, and develop future plans was founded.
