LiDA e-Modules
The Center for Learning in the Digital Age is creating a series of self-paced online modules about key issues associated with learning in the digital age, with the goal of enabling individual educators or teams to learn more about the chosen topic independently and at times most convenient to them. Each LiDA eModule consists of a carefully selected sequence of readings and videos, along with suggested learning activities that could be accomplished individually, or in a self-directed group setting.
The time required to complete each eModule may vary significantly depending on its scope and content, as well as the choices made by each user about how to engage with the materials. The time estimate provided after the title of each eModule is based on how long we expect it would take to complete all the suggested activities – including viewing the posted videos and doing the readings. Users interested in just getting a quick overview of the content included in the eModule content can go through it much more quickly!

Hyflex Teaching and Learning at UofR
Hyflex learning is a flexible approach to education that combines traditional face-to-face learning with online learning. This allows students to choose how they want to attend class and engage in learning activities. Hyflex courses offer students the convenience and flexibility of attending class in-person or online, or even both, depending on their preferences, needs, and what works best for them. For instance, if a student is unable to attend a class in-person, they can log in from home and participate in the class virtually. This is particularly useful for students with busy schedules, those who live far from campus, and those with various disabilities.
Generative AI for Educators
We are currently piloting an eModule type of website titled “Generative AI for Educators”, to demystify the powerful world of generative AI, illustrating its potential and its applications for educators. Through this module, educators will gain a comprehensive understanding of what generative AI is and what it can accomplish as well as important considerations and ethical aspects surrounding the use of generative AI in an educational context. High Leverage Teaching Practices for Remote Teaching
Effective remote teaching requires K-12 teachers, in addition to curriculum redesign, to master a number of “online teaching practices” that cut across subjects and topics. In this eModule, we have identified a few of these practices that may have the highest impact, and for each highlight key instructional decisions to be make in implementing that practice, identify a few key options worth considering, and discuss advantages and limitations of each of these options. Handouts are also provided for easy reference and to inform reflections on the implementation of each practice. This eModule aims to support teachers with different backgrounds and interests, allowing for individual choices and different levels of depth.
Developing a shared vision for digitally-rich teaching (1+ hour)
Digitally-rich teaching and learning may mean significantly different things to different people – even among educators working in the same district! Therefore, whenever starting a new technology initiatives, or on-boarding new hires in districts where technology innovations are well established, it is especially important to begin by developing a shared vision for what one aims to achieve. In this eModule, you will review a couple of videos of digitally-rich classrooms, and then be introduced to three complementary “models” of instructional technology integration that can help you evaluate specific examples as well as begin to articulate your own vision for digitally-rich instruction.
