Cognitive Science Cluster

cognitive science diagramOur mission is to promote research and teaching collaborations among the growing number of people at the University of Rochester with interests in Cognitive Science broadly defined. Participants include faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students from the Departments of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Computer Science, Linguistics, and Philosophy, and the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program. Because research on biological and artificial intelligence takes place in many different units at this university, the events held by the Cognitive Science Cluster provide important forums for members of these different units to interact. Our activities include Cognitive Science Dinners, in which members of our community present “big picture” talks about an area of research, and Immersive Encounters, in which invited speakers from outside our community present the findings of an interdisciplinary research project. For more information about the Cognitive Science Cluster, contact Daniel Gildea (Department of Computer Science), Robert Jacobs (Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences), or Joyce McDonough (Department of Linguistics).
