Athletics Teams Compete in Postseason Play
The University's softball team was one of nine
sports to play in the NCAA Division III championships.
The team, which was also an Eastern College Athletic
Conference champion, had success with a relatively
young team led by a handful of upperclassmen like
cocaptain Jena Robertson '07.
Individual Rochester athletes or teams in
12 sports took part in postseason play in
2006-07.
Nine sports were represented in the
NCAA Division III championships:
men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross
country, men's basketball, women's basketball,
women's swimming and diving, men's
indoor track and field, golf, and softball.
Three sports competed in the Eastern
College Athletic Conference championships:
women's volleyball, field hockey,
and football. The football team broke 10
individual or team offensive records and
made its first postseason appearance in 19
years by competing in the ECAC.
The men's swimming and diving,
golf, softball, and cross-country teams
were all conference champions.
The University's coaching staff also
had season and career highlights last
year. Men's basketball coach Mike Neer
earned his 500th career victory on January
4. He has 510 wins through 31 seasons.
First-year football coach Scott Greene took
his team to postseason play. Pete Thompson,
the coach of men's and women's
swimming, guided the
Yellowjacket men to
the Liberty League
championship,
Rochester's first
Liberty League
title in that sport.
