The Class of 2010, which started classes in fall 2006, was the largest admitted by the University in a decade.

The 1,102 students also represent a more important milestone for the University. The class had the University's highest-ever yield, or percentage of students who accepted their offer to attend college here. The yield was 21.4 percent, up from 18 percent in 2005. Jonathan Burdick, dean of admissions and financial aid, said the climbing yield is really impressive considering that competition for students is at its fiercest.

"This is despite the fact that students are applying to more schools than ever," Burdick said. "So they are choosing Rochester even though they have more options."
