Phi Beta Kappa Key into Public Service Scholarship

University of Rochester undergraduates who have demonstrated an interest in working in the public sector and have a strong academic record are eligible for the Key into Public Service Scholarship.

Sponsored by Phi Beta Kappa, widely considered the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society, the Key into Public Service Scholarship is awarded to students chosen from more than 700 applicants who attend chapter institutions nationwide. Recipients display notable breadth and depth across the arts and sciences. Each scholar will receive a $5,000 undergraduate scholarship and participate in an educational conference in Washington, DC, to provide them with training, mentoring, and reflection on pathways into active citizenship.

Isabella Rocha ’25
Areas of study: Political science (BA) and economics (BA)

The Somerset, Massachusetts, native was one of 20 scholars selected. She is president of the University’s Model United Nations and served as a captain of the Mock Trial team. She has served as a political science research assistant since her sophomore year. Her academic interests explore the effects of polarization on voter mobilization and policies focused on women’s issues. In the summer of 2023, she served as a district intern for Congressman Jake Auchincloss. After college, Rocha plans on obtaining a juris doctor degree before becoming a constitutional lawyer, or an advanced degree in public policy to write legislation at the state or federal level.
