Housing

Dates

Winter Stay housing usually begins the day that residence halls close for the fall semester and ends the day before they reopen for the spring semester. Specific start and end dates for Winter Stay 2024-25 will be available in late fall 2024.

Eligibility

Winter Stay housing is limited to undergraduate students currently living in on-campus housing, and who are returning to campus for the spring semester.

If any of the following apply to you for the spring semester, you are not eligible to register for Winter Stay housing:

  • Participating in a semester-long study abroad program
  • Taking an academic Leave of Absence
  • Graduating in December
  • Commuter student
  • Incoming first-year, transfer, or exchange student

Undergraduate students are prohibited from staying in graduate housing areas over Winter Break. Please note: If you are anticipating a room change for the spring semester, you must be on campus for Room Change Day.

Fee

All students remaining on campus during Winter Stay will be charged a fee to support the operation and maintenance of the residence halls. This fee will be applied directly to your student account.

Financial support is available for those currently receiving federal and/or institutional aid and will be applied on a sliding scale. Aid will be provided based on your level of need, ranging from 0%-100% coverage of the fee. Please contact your financial aid counselor if you have questions about your level of aid. Students with financial hardship may also request support through the Basic Needs Hub.

Registration

Registration for 2024-25 Winter Stay housing will open in late fall 2024. If you need to make changes to your form responses after submission, contact Residential Life and Housing Services at housing@reslife.rochester.edu.
