Members of the George Eastman Circle, the University’s premier leadership annual giving society, stand at the forefront of a movement that will help provide an even greater service to the world. George Eastman understood that the world’s great research universities are unique. Tey are the only institutions that can contribute to the greater good of society, across the broadest range of subjects, in perpetuity. Early in the 20th century, George Eastman and a fellow group of leaders recognized the important ways that the University of Rochester could contribute toward the greater good. Teir vision, leadership, and philanthropic support were instrumental in transforming the University of Rochester into one of the world’s fnest research universities. Tat support spanned multiple disciplines and, today, the impact George Eastman made is seen throughout the University community and the world. George Eastman Circle members make a fve-year unrestricted pledge of $1,500 or greater annually to designated areas where “The progress of the world their personal interests and passions are greatest. depends almost entirely upon education.” Tese extremely infuential leaders earn a signifcant place in University history for their dedication and belief in Rochester’s future—and play a critical role in ensuring the University will have a reliable, steady stream of income for years to come. Throughout this brochure you will find examples of the incredible impact created by the collective generosity of George Eastman Circle members, who designate their support to more than 200 available funds. Members have pledged almost $60 million since January 1, 2007.
