Opportunities for PhD's

InternPhD

University of Rochester AS&E doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences often have many interests and career opportunities upon degree completion. In response to this, and the changing job market, the Greene Center for Career Education and Connections has developed InternPhD, a competitive internship program to provide academic-adjacent higher education experiences for AS&E PhD students in the humanities and social sciences. Designed to help broaden our students' experiences and learn more about alternative academic positions and skillsets.

Gaining an internship experience in a higher education setting can provide students with tangible work experience. Applying knowledge and skill sets gained in their programs of study, to academic and student life support offices can enrich the academic experience and provide additional work experience. Enriching their academic program and adding direction to career development.

Students will participate in a funded summer-long internship, working part time (15-20 hours a week). Interested students are encouraged to participate and apply for internships. Before applying for an internship, students must complete the prerequisite CASC 504.

Eligibility Requirements

Students participating in this program must:

  • Be enrolled full time in a AS&E PhD program in the humanities or social sciences
  • Have successfully completed their first two years of coursework in their department.
  • Completed CASC 504
  • If accepted into an internship position students will be required to take CASC 505, a zero credit reflection course that runs in conjunction with the internship experience.
